Caring For Your Spirit

The human spirit is not some supernatural essence or magical implant into the human brain. It is the natural collective effect of human consciousness, thoughts, feelings, and meanings. It is what registers and reflects our total conscious experience. We feel good when the balance of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences are positive. We feel bad when the balance is negative. The better we feel, the stronger are our spirits. The worse we feel, the weaker are our spirits.

There are many factors that contribute to our spiritual state. If we understand these factors and how to better manage them, then we can better manage and control our spiritual experiences. We can learn how to build, maintain, and repair our spirits. We can plan and act in ways that will lead to more rewarding spiritual experiences.

Happiness is a spiritual state of mind. But there is more to happiness than just feeling good about something. Happiness is deeper and more sustained. Pure pleasures can contribute to happiness. But to experience the greatest spiritual happiness, our physical, emotional, social, and intellectual, selves must be in synch with each other. Working together, they boost and amplify our experience of pleasure, reward, satisfaction, and happiness. When the various parts of our self are in conflict, our capacity for happiness is decreased. In extreme cases, our spiritual happiness can be sabotaged by conflicts or misalignments of important aspects of our inner selves.

The following articles are aimed at helping us to identify and use strategies and practices that can align our inner selves and so increase our chances of finding spiritual happiness.
